O Grupo Imagem Núcleo de Fotografia e Vídeo de Sorocaba, teve seu inicio em 22 de setembro de 1986, quando o fotógrafo João Farkas esteve em Sorocaba ministrando uma oficina de fotografia, dentro do projeto “NOSSA GENTE”, promovido pela União dos Fotógrafos de São Paulo, Secretaria de Educação e Cultura do Estado, Biblioteca Municipal de Sorocaba e Cinebando Cineclube. Dos quinze participantes da oficina, cinco deles formaram o GRUPO IMAGEM. Nestes 18 anos de existência já realizamos inúmeras atividades culturais e projetos em parcerias com outras entidades. Nossas atividades não têm fins lucrativos e acontecem na Rua Júlio Hanser, 140, Sala 35. 3º andar, Jardim Faculdade, – Sorocaba – SP. Contamos com o valoroso apoio do Sindicato dos Metalúrgicos de Sorocaba e Região, através de sua Diretoria que gentilmente nos acolheu.
