Domenic Bahmann (1981) is a multidisciplinary visual artist and designer. He is born in Munich, Germany and currently lives in Canberra, Australia. He works as an artist and designer creating visual content and art for campaigns, websites, apps and magazines. His work has been featured on many design websites and magazines including Australian House & Garden, The Independent and il Post. His work has an understated style to his tongue-in-cheek miniature designs that communicates simple ideas tastefully and humorously. Bahmann’s style is diverse, but his clever miniaturized arrangements of easily recognizable symbols are probably his most eye-catching work. Each little miniature item is like a small and self-contained joke or statement, and it only helps that most of them are created out of simple arrangements of every-day objects that we could easily collect at home.

I am a member of the Department of Psychology at The Ohio State University with a summer teaching appointment at Vanderbilt University since 2012. I received my B.A. from Purdue University in 2004 and my Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 2009. While at Iowa I primarily worked with Andrew Hollingworth, while also collaborating with Shaun Vecera and Steve Luck. From 2008-2010 I taught at the Ohio State University, Marion after which I spent five years at Manchester University where I was granted tenure and promotion in May 2015. I then spent a year at Tennessee State University as an Associate Professor before joining the faculty at The Ohio State University.  In 2014 Geoff Woodman and I established a paradigm measuring recognition-induced forgetting. Recognition-induced forgetting occurs when practice recognizing an object, from a group of objects learned at the same time, leads to worse memory for objects from that group that were not practiced. This forgetting effect is commonly accompanied by improved memory for practiced objects. Work in my lab has shown that recognition-induced forgetting is not an artifact of category-based set size. Our developmental work has shown that this forgetting effect comes online by 6 years of age without a memory benefit for practiced objects until 9 years of age. Further, the forgetting appears to remain robust with healthy aging in samples of older adults, without the benefit for practiced objects shown in young adults but accompanied by a decrease in intrusion errors.  We are currently applying behavioral, transcranial direct-current stimulation, and electrophysiological techniques to the recognition-induced forgetting paradigm to understand how this forgetting phenomenon operates on a variety of stimuli and applied settings. Advantages of this paradigm include that it is possible to test memory of young children using visual objects before they can read, it allows for testing of multiple types of stimuli, and it can be used with animal models. Inspired by the excellent mentorship I have received from many wonderfully supportive and astoundingly intelligent professors, advisors and collaborators, I welcome new students into my lab regularly.

We collect fonts that could be used to type texts now. Fonts that meet modern technical requirements and tune in to the spirit of time. We develop collection of modern typography design instruments. We select works by the new generation of font designers and renowned authors. Fonts that reflect the visual language of the present moment and near future.

Bill Thompson is a sound artist and composer whose work has been performed extensively throughout the UK and abroad.A native of Texas, he relocated to the UK in 2004 to pursue a PhD in Composition. Since then he has received numerous awards and commissions including the PRS for New Music ATOM award, the GAVAA visual arts award, a PRS for New Music Three Festival commission, the 2010 Aberdeen Visual Arts Award, and was nominated for the Paul Hamlyn Award in 2012.As an artist, he has a particular interest in perception and embodied presence. His installations and performances frequently utilize found objects, field recordings, repurposed live electronics, and digital media to create environments that encourage active attention to each moment. He applies this same strategy within his compositional work which often include long sustained tones, densely layered textures, and indeterminate or improvised structures. He has written for a range of instruments including voice, guitar, contrabass, bagpipe, percussion, organ, string quartet, mixed ensembles and live electronics. As a solo performer he works primarily with live electronics although originally trained as a guitarist.In addition to working as a solo artist, Thompson has collaborated with choreographer Ian Spink for several years in their company Airfield. Their work together blurs the distinctions between dance, theatre, music and installation. Additionally, he has worked with several other well-known artists including Keith Rowe, Faust, EXAUDI and others.He is also an avid supporter of new music and is the director of the Burning Harpsichord Series, a concert programme devoted to high calibre experimental music. He also co-directs the multidisciplinary artist workshop fast+Dirty with Ian Spink, lectures at the University of Surrey and teaches collaborative arts practice at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.Artist Statement
