Kevin Cheung, Wai Chun is an upcycling product designer based in Hong Kong. Since graduated from School of Design (SD) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2009, he has been devoted to re-create a better world for people and other living things to live in. He believes designers are capable and has the responsibility to protect the environment through sustainable designs, that is to balance three interconnected domains: ecology, economics, and society. Kevin experiments with a wide range of materials others would have considered as waste or scrap, being an extraordinary scavenger, he design and transformed these materials into lasting products. Through understanding the production process, Kevin hopes to inspire many more through viewing things from another lens, understanding how things are being made, packaged, consumed and disposed. All upcycling products designed by Kevin are made of waste produced in Hong Kong. Members with disabilities of a local NGO’s Sheltered Workshop are employed to help with part of the production as one of the tasks in their training programme. Not only are the products useful, they also demonstrate how a mutually beneficial relationship could be attained.

AFORE has been established to be the regional conference since 2011. The establishment of AFORE is to facilitate the trans-national and regional sharing of knowledge and understading from research activiters being undertaken in the renewable energy systems, their interantions with the environment and the identification of barriers to be addressed in order to establisth renewable energy industry. From the past successful AFORE conferences, now it is recognized as the regional presenting forum for renewable energy areas providing opportunities for recent information sharing, interaction between researchers and industries, networking building and research/technical collaboration.
