Images that capture harrowing feats in world-class sailing competition are frozen in perpetuity through Priscilla Parker's view finder. Serving as an organizing official and/or race committee member for local, national and international sailing regattas, Parker has managed to grab photographic stills of competitors pursuing victory in perilously rough, fast waters --- from the deck of a rocking, some times wet boat. On any given weekend, Priscilla experiences the saltwater rush that coexists themes for a greater cause --- raising funds and supporting sailing events to support cancer research and patient care. After becoming the first person to use computer technology for onboard scoring of Charleston Race Week in 2005, Parker was toting a camera as part other racing official gear -- generally a scoring pad, whistle, flags, and an accurate clock. After 30 years of either competitor or race committee member in sailing events, Parker figured it time she started recording the experience for enjoyment later. The switch from 35mm to digital brought about a new and different world of photography. Her shots have captured soaked racing jocks standing parallel to the waves on the edge of a sailboat; the ominous view of the Spirit of South Carolina tall ship as it passes under the Cooper River span; and colorful clusters of competitors that have come to Charleston from lands afar to test the Charleston currents. Her work has been featured in national sailing and boating publications, as well as local news media. The New Bern, NC native has become an indelible member of the Lowcountry sailing community as a member of the Charleston Ocean Racing Association, South Atlantic Yacht Racing Association, Charleston Yacht Club and volunteer with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society Leukemia Cup Regatta and past volunteer for the Maritime Heritage Foundation. My photography began as an offshoot of my greater passion - birding.  It has since evolved to encompass all of Nature.  All of the animals and plants shown here are wild, unless otherwise noted.  Please note, new photos are placed at the beginning of each gallery. I am originally from Pennsylvania, USA, but immigrated to Canada in 2006.  I lived in Ottawa, Ontario for six years.  I currently reside in Gwangju, South Korea, with my wife Melanie.  We are both middle school English teachers in South Korea. For those interested, the majority of photos here were taken with my Sony Alpha A100 with a 75-300mm f5.6.  I recently upgraded to a Canon 7D, 100-400mm f4.5/5.6, which will be my primary set up from now on.

I am an Atlanta based photographer specializing in fine art landscape, architectural and artwork photography. Working in both black & white and color, my landscape images are an expression of my lifelong love for the wonders of our natural world. My current black and white work is an exploration of the monochromatic world of patterns, shapes, tones and textures in natural settings. As I continue to explore this world I find myself moving away from the traditional wide "landscape" views to more intimate compositions with a particular emphasis on the structure of the subject and the composition. My color work - as opposed to focusing on form and texture as I do in my black and white portfolio - uses color itself as the essence of the image. The colors being as, or sometimes more, important than the actual subject matter of the photograph "Abstract Water Studies" is a new project in both color and black and white that explores the movement, texture and color of water separated from the normal context. Although I use modern digital equipment to capture and process my images I am, at the core, a traditionalist and use the "digital darkroom" to perform only traditional darkroom techniques such as dodging and burning, tonal adjustments and contrast control to create the image as I visualized it in the field. Welcome to our web site! We have been photography hobbyists for decades. In fact, that's what brought us together! We met on a photo field trip to Yosemite in May 1990 and have been enjoying photography together ever since. Nothing is safe from us and our cameras. Friends and family have learned to watch what they do when we are around ;^) We love to photograph ocean, desert, and mountain scenes... all types of landscapes. Nature is a common subject, including birds, flowers, insects, etc. Cats and dogs have a place in our hearts and photography, but our special passion involves sky phenomenon. We have chased solar eclipses all over the world and photographed auroras in Iceland and Alaska. In Jan 2010, we joined PolyPhoto Club here in San Diego which has really expanded our horizons. It's a great group of talented photographers who are very willing to share their knowledge... and they have become our friends. Thanks to the people, workshops, field trips, and monthly competition meetings, we feel we have dramatically increased our abilities. Thank you for visiting my website! My love for photography began as a child. I remember going to the National Museum of the Air Force when I was 9 or 10 years old. I spent every penny I had buying and shooting all the rolls of 110 film I could get my hands on. It took me weeks to save up enough to get them all developed (aahhh digital). I found the pictures again a few years ago. The pictures were nothing spectacular, but I'll never forget the rush I got taking them. Jump ahead to high school where I took my first photography class and learned about exposure, composure, and developing. After that I got away from serious photography until just a few years back. My father got a fancy new camera, a Nikon D90, and I had to have one too. I tried out a lot of lower grade equipment before learning the reasons why the pro grade stuff cost soooo much. There really is a huge difference in what you can do with it. But then I hit another wall. Even though my gear was good, I couldn't get all the shots I was trying for. My dad was having similar issues and we discovered a local photography school, Light Photographic Workshops. And the rest, as they say, is history. Not really, but I did learn how to fully use my camera and have continued to strive to be a better photographer ever since. I am fortunate to live in an area filled with great places to shoot, and to have friends and family that are so supportive of my work.

It is my ongoing goal to belay all preconceived notions and enter every new place and community only wanting to learn and understand something new. My passion...is to capture expressions and emotion in my photographs. I have been fascinated with photography since I was in grade school. I was always the one with the camera, getting great action and group shots. I never went anywhere without my camera and, everyone has ALWAYS depended on me to capture the memories of every event. Through the years, I have long considered photography as just simply an enthusiastic hobby, however, it became more intensified upon the birth of my child. Now, I never put the camera down. It wasn't until 8 years ago when the company I worked for, for 22 years, sold. Everyone told me that this was the time for me to pursue my dreams, and now I am. I started shooting weddings and quickly found out how much I love taking candids and getting people's expressions. Most of the time, I don't want my subjects to pose. I love to capture them in the moment. I have recently been shooting local sport tournaments and can I tell you how awesome action photography is for me. I was recently told by a mom that it is amazing how I capture the personality of a child as if I've photgraphed them for years, when in fact I just meet them. That is why I love to do what I do. I am a perfectionist in everything that I do. My goal is to be at the right place at the right time and to get that hard to get shot. I want to see excitement and joy in people's faces when they see the pictures that I have taken of their families and friends. I have been passionate about the arts for as long as I can remember. I got my first 35mm camera while I was in the military. The excitement and thrill of making a good capture has never diminished. For the last ten years, or more, I have studied and grown with the digital age and my passion for photography has grown even stronger. I studied Art at the University of Delaware and have taken many classes in sketching and painting at the Delaware Art Museum. I have learned my photography skills through years of trial and error and from the association of many great photographers in the Delaware Photographic Society who were willing to share their wealth of knowledge and through attending seminars and photographic workshops. I think my love for the arts and training in engineering is a great mix for photography and I hope you enjoy my work. Pedro’s photography interest started when he finished grad school in NYC and moved out of the country, marking a transition to international development that would take him and his lens to such photogenic places as India, Indonesia and Africa. He is now starting to explore a familiar US through this new way of looking at the world. A small town Texas native, Pedro studied at MIT and Columbia. He has a diverse work background that includes investment banking in San Francisco, teaching math in Seoul, Zimbabwe and Guatemala and researching with Harvard economists in India. He most recently worked at the World Bank in Sub-Saharan Africa. Pedro currently resides in the D.C. area and can be reached at [email protected].

I am a mother, a wife, and a photographer... in that order. ;) I love my family first and foremost. I am a jack of many trades, I love creating, everything - from beautiful images, to costumes, to yummy foods. I love my craft closet, (which is full of stuff I can use to make things for you session that will make it that much more interesting) I love my costume and prop collection, I love thrift stores and flea markets, and I love a good sale anywhere. I enjoy reading good long books as well as writing, (although life has seemed to push that pastime to the side for the most part) and I rarely ever watch TV. I enjoy the outdoors and sports, and when I get old I will be be an avid traveler. ;) The sky amazes me and I have recently began taking random photos of it (awesome for overlays)...., I would love to have a second house at the ocean. I have an obsession with dying my hair random colors dependent upon my mood, and lately am rarely seen without a bandana tied around my head. If asked about my favorite color, I would have to say that I love them all (which is reflected throughout the walls of my home) yet I always gravitate toward things that are black. I am inspired in one way or another by everything that I have ever seen or experienced. (good, bad, and ugly) I like to think that I am a very intelligent person, I have an extremely sarcastic sense of humor at times, and I truly enjoy people. I have a very good sense of style, although my clothing choices for myself may not always reflect that as I am often in a tank top and jeans. (That said, you will never catch me dead in "mom" jeans) I drive too fast, and love music....all genres, like in a "My name is Amanda and I must be schizophrenic due to my playlist" kind of way.... I am not a "professionally trained photographer" so I can show you no credentials aside from my portfolio, as I am completely self taught and expand on my creativity and knowledge whenever possible. I suppose we can call me an extremely passionate artist of the lens, eager to capture and create some fantastic images for you. We are each an unique work of art, I am here to make sure your portraits reflect just that. I can produce a perfectly beautiful image of you sooc (straight out of camera), although rarely will I ever be satisfied with leaving it at that. I would like to consider myself extremely versatile in the creativity department. I love to do themed shoots, and can create costumes as well as other items necessary to pull them off. I have an eye for location, and love and appreciate natural light and texture. I am slightly "edgy", and love to think outside of the box. While there is nothing "conservative" about my taste or personality, I am able to mold my creative juices to suit the situation. So, no matter if you are looking to push the boundaries, or stay comfortably, simply, and beautifully artistic I am the photographer for you. I can do it all. My Story and How I Started My name is Jason R. Samy. I’ve been taking pictures as long as I can remember, but I got my first experience with a 35mm SLR in my early adult life. Over time I converted to digital and I haven't ever looked back. My portfolio displays many styles of photography that I’ve learned over the years and I continue to expedient with different techniques. I started off shooting anything in front of me, but ask anyone who knows me; I’m rarely without my camera. Outside of taking pictures of my friends, family, and things around me, I started shooting different dance events and shows. That got me started on some portrait and portfolio work. And this eventually led to my first engagement and wedding shoots. I can say because of my experiences, that i am somewhat a “jack of all trades” kind of photographer. I am still striving to find my niche in photography and learn with every push of the trigger on my camera, but I love to photograph everything. A lot of events in life happen in the blink of an eye, and photos are once in a life time moments that I like to capture and share with everyone. Photography started as a hobby for me, and as lucky as it sounds to some, it is now a passion that I get paid to do. Taotzu Chang, a full-time wedding photographer in Taiwan, uses wedding photography as the way to describe different stories and culture and enjoys in it. His unique composition and image processing creates his popularity in Taiwan. In 2012, he won the Gold medal of the French px3 awards. In 2013, he became the member of WPJA and AGWPJA. At the same time, he won the awards in both associations and also the Gold medal in IPA (International Photography Award.)
