I am a lover of living intentionally, experiential learning, and global thinking. An academic interdisciplinarian, I have degrees in Human Biology, Social Work, Ethics, Spanish Language, and recently a Master Degree in Global Public Health. I earned my chops in photography as a photojournalist, and in post processing as a photo-editor, in 2011 when I worked for a local daily newspaper for 1 year. Since then I have continued local freelance work, but have primarily focused on my true passion – travel photography. Forever hungry for novel experiences, and permanently thirsty for caffeine, I inevitably fall in love with every place I visit. It is my ongoing goal to belay all preconceived notions and enter every new place and community only wanting to learn and understand something new. I fell in love with photography at age 15 when I got my first SLR camera for Christmas back in 1983. I wanted to be a National Geographic photographer but photography school was too expensive so I never pursued it professionally. In my 20's, I didn't have time to do much photography due to... well, life. At around age 32 I decided I wanted to be happy, finally, and I wanted to take control of my life instead of being controlled by my job. So I started getting back into my photography and practicing and shooting and reading everything I could get my hands on and teaching myself how to be a better photographer. So at age 34 I started my photography business. This was in 2002 about 6 months after 9/11. Probably not the best time to start a business, but for me it was now or never. It was the best decision I have ever made in my life! I put everything I had into it with the attitude that "I will make this happen!" Failure was not an option. To my surprise... three years later, I was shooting 50 weddings a year. The best part... I am happy! I love what I do, I love my life... What could be better than that? About My Photography I don't like to label my style of photography. I just go with what I am feeling from the bride and groom and what I am feeling from the wedding location. The light, the colors, the textures all play a part in how I shoot. I bring a relaxed, fun and confident attitude to my shoots. I get told by my clients that I am a joy to work with and I make them feel very comfortable in front of the camera. I get people at my weddings telling me, "Dude, your an awesome photographer!" My photography began as an offshoot of my greater passion - birding.  It has since evolved to encompass all of Nature.  All of the animals and plants shown here are wild, unless otherwise noted.  Please note, new photos are placed at the beginning of each gallery. I am originally from Pennsylvania, USA, but immigrated to Canada in 2006.  I lived in Ottawa, Ontario for six years.  I currently reside in Gwangju, South Korea, with my wife Melanie.  We are both middle school English teachers in South Korea. Kevin Lee resides in Fullerton, California and frequently dives SoCal waters. His adventures, in over 40 countries, include multiple treks to Mt. Everest Base Camp and atop Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest summit. Among his memorable experiences, he fondly recalls a warm hug from Mother Teresa and meeting the Dalai Lama. After learning to scuba dive, Kevin took up underwater photography to share the wonders of the ocean with others. He has dived all Seven Continents, including Antarctica where water temperatures were 29F (-2C). Kevin's images are on permanent display at Chapman University, Orange California, and have been exhibited at various venues such as the Branford House, University of Connecticut, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, and other venues. He has been the Los Angeles Underwater Photographic Society (LAUPS) and Orange County Underwater Underwater Photographic Society (OCUPS) Photographer of the Year numerous times. In addition, Kevin's photography has been featured in magazines, newspapers, academic literature and many dive related publications. I majored in Visual Media, which is a combination of Photography and Graphic Design. I did an internship with the Rochester Red Wings as the team's photographer for the past two seasons. I've worked with the Iowa Cubs for three summers as a graphic designer and photographer before I joined the Red Wings. I also work for the RIT's Sports Information, shooting various sports around campus, including the RIT Men Hockey's team that made to the Frozen Four in Detroit, Michigan in 2010. Thank you for visiting my website! My love for photography began as a child. I remember going to the National Museum of the Air Force when I was 9 or 10 years old. I spent every penny I had buying and shooting all the rolls of 110 film I could get my hands on. It took me weeks to save up enough to get them all developed (aahhh digital). I found the pictures again a few years ago. The pictures were nothing spectacular, but I'll never forget the rush I got taking them. Jump ahead to high school where I took my first photography class and learned about exposure, composure, and developing. After that I got away from serious photography until just a few years back. My father got a fancy new camera, a Nikon D90, and I had to have one too. I tried out a lot of lower grade equipment before learning the reasons why the pro grade stuff cost soooo much. There really is a huge difference in what you can do with it. But then I hit another wall. Even though my gear was good, I couldn't get all the shots I was trying for. My dad was having similar issues and we discovered a local photography school, Light Photographic Workshops. And the rest, as they say, is history. Not really, but I did learn how to fully use my camera and have continued to strive to be a better photographer ever since. I am fortunate to live in an area filled with great places to shoot, and to have friends and family that are so supportive of my work.

I have been fascinated by unconventional people for as long as I can remember. I was raised in a middle class suburban neighborhood where my family stood out as eccentrics. We were the only secular family on the block, and my parents encouraged us to run wild, play hard, and reject authority. My father told captivating stories about his unusual upbringing, many of which revolved around his mother, a paranoid schizophrenic, and his father, a merchant marine with severe PTSD. As I got older, I became curious about other people that lived unorthodox lifestyles. Having seen the work of Mary Ellen Mark and Diane Arbus, I knew that the camera could grant permission into the lives of complete strangers. In 2003, I moved to San Francisco, CA to study photography at The San Francisco Art Institute. After completing my BFA, I moved back to my home town San Diego, with my now husband Tahan, in tow. We currently reside in La Mesa, CA where I work full time as a photographer and am finishing my MFA through the Low Residency program at The San Francisco Art Institute. We are expecting our first child together this Christmas, 2015.

Welcome to my gallery of photos of the railway scene in East Anglia and other parts of the UK and Europe. Most were taken in the decade between 1972 and 1982. Thirty years on a lot of these scenes have disappeared for good. Some lines have closed, some have been electrified or the signalling upgraded with the consequent loss of signal boxes, semaphore signals and manual crossing gates. The BR blue livery has also disappeared under privatisation. From a personal point of view the railways are far less interesting today. This is a replacement for my old Fotopic site which contained around 1700 images. The new site will be continually updated, time permitting, so please check back now and again. It's good to be back. Street Photography is about how you capture what’s around you, how confident you are as a person, how you handle peoples reactions when or after you take their photo. I know it seems scary but just go for it, but not everybody feels confident in public with a camera and taking pictures of people, you need basic knowledge, it’s like laying a foundation before we build a house, it's what makes it strong. Street Photography is not everyone's cup of tea, best to do it for yourself, fill your curiosity. You don’t have to be a serious Street Photographer, as long this genre makes you get up and get out, that’s great. I believe we only gain something from focussing on what we do and keep on trying. I never stop learning when doing Street, everything about it fascinates me, from the people, shadows, shapes, to en empty road. Since I started Street photography, I never get bored. I do Street everywhere, weekends, during holidays, days out with friends, in good weather or bad weather, in broad daylight or at night. The Street is available to everyone who’s willing to do it, 24/7. I started my workshops early in 2017, it’s my great pleasure to introduce Street Photography to others and keep motivating them afterwards. I am always pleased to discover that many of my workshop attendees actually have the skills and understanding but need advice and demonstrations to begin with. I regularly see my workshop attendees doing well after workshops, they start “seeing things” which is the hardest part in Street photography. They gain the confidence to go out and the most important thing is they enjoy it, they feel that Street Photography gives them something to look forward, to go outside and practice. I think that’s wonderful. During the workshops I demonstrate my skills by showing some of my images that I have taken over many years, I point out good subjects that I spot on the Street and give them the explanation and of course I make sure my attendees doing a lot of practising to gain their confidence. My advice to beginners is: Go out, make lots of mistakes and importantly, enjoy it!

As a traditional artist working as a sign artist for many years with just brushes and paint, that's why I choose to make Photoshop brushes about 95% of the time.
