Aprisindo | Indonesian Footwear Association
http://pageoverview.com/website-report/aprisindo.or.id
The Footwear industry in Indonesia grows along the line with the development of the Indonesian economy in general since the early seventies. It grow steadily year by year , but as a group of manufacturers they are still not a cohesive sector , and from scale perspective only a few are known nationally , only big name like the Bata shoe company that operates in Indonesia for decades. However since the early eighties the footwear industry in Indonesia grows rapidly with the influx of foreign investment which produced footwear for the foreign market. This development was also enhanced by the government’s business friendly policy and a stable economic and political condition. This development was also accelerated by the expansion of supporting industries , which resulted in more cost efficient production and a timely production time. This rapid development need a better management , and a new approach from policy makers was adopted . In the year 1988, the Ministry of Industry assembled shoe manufacturers from Jabotabek area , West Java , Central Java and encouraged the formation of the Indonesian Footwear Association or Asosiasi Persepatuan Indonesia known as APRISINDO . The shoe manufacturers and the Ministry of Industry envisioned this organization as vehicle to maintain the development of the shoe industry in all its aspect. The growth of shoe industry in that period was mainly dominated by factories producing brand names like Nike , Adidas , Reebok and others for export . The growth of shoe manufacturing was reflected in the steadily increasing annual export value and footwear is one of the ten main commodities exported from Indonesia and footwear export is one of the main contributor to Indonesian foreign exchange earnings. At the pinnacle of its growth in 1996 , the footwear industry employed 850.000 direct and supporting workers . At he time the export value reached its height of US$ 2,2 billion. However against this bright atmosphere a dark cloud of a financial typhoon is looming and fast approaching . The financial crisis of 1997 struck mercilessly on the economy and especially the banking sector . A multitude of problems plagued the Indonesian economy and with it came the political turmoil and instability in economic and social condition . The shoe industry also engulfed in the crises and had to face a host of problem , all the mainstays for the survival of a shoe industry are in disarray Supporting industries relocate their operations abroad to a more conducive environment. This made production more costly and timing of supply of raw material critical. Banking industry in a chaotic condition and cannot support the shoe industry , to overcame this problem the government seek to make an agreement in Export Financing with the Japanese Government and the USA , however due to unexpected events these scheme did not materialize. During all these uncertain times APRISINDO did its best to support its member to survive the storm . Starting 2000 the storm abated and a revival of the shoe industry is in sight . Another aspect came into view in the euphoria following the fall of the old regime and political liberalization a host of labor unions sprung up with their own political agenda and view of labor and human rights. New Labor law the famous Law No. 13 /2003 was enacted , which add another obstacle due to the costly termination pay. As the footwear industry steadily inching forward , APRISINDO broaden its role in supporting the whole spectrum of the footwear industry The future of the organization , in addition to the prevailing role the organization is developing its focus on a broader issue : • Maintaining growing existence of the shoe industry and enhancing its ability to compete in the global market. • Encouraging the development of non sport and SME footwear industry . • Reinforcing the consolidation of footwear supporting industries . The role of the association is steadily gaining recognition by all stake holders in the footwear industry , as reflected in the involvement of the association in footwear matters. "Ed is a great, soulful, swinging underrated player deserving of wider recognition." - Bill Milkowski 1/13/11" "An expressive instrumentalist, Cherry has a hip, melodic approach that is a refreshing contrast to guitarists who frequently resort to playing 'finger music', the execution of rapid streams of notes that serve no musical purpose other than to fill space"- Jim Ferguson: Jazztimes - 06/02 "Particularly dazzling - Cherry's guitar had the young bar crowd dancing" - Kay Cordtz : blues review-5/10 "But this album’s ace in the hole is guitarist Ed Cherry. “Blues drenched” is not a cliché when applied to Cherry. Title Achievements Led by Brent Burnett, Synergy's Newest Pearl Executive Last November, as the holiday season began, Synergy Team Member Brent Burnett was passionately working with his team to reach new business milestones. Now, not only has he achieved the rank of Pearl Executive, he has set up a foundation for even greater success with Synergy in the future. An avid runner, Brent compares his business building to the preparation and strategy that a distance runner would use during a race: "You have to learn how to balance yourself during a race," said Burnett. "You have to know when to push and when to dial it back. Last year , we saw the opportunity to reach and decided to make that push." Hitting Pearl is definitely a commendable achievement for Brent, but not one that he could have accomplished alone. Joining him in the journey for greatness are two other Team Members who made pushes of their own to reach new titles before the end of the year. NEW TEAM DIRECTORS William Ackley and Richard Carl, friends of Brent and members of his organization, were taught what would be required in order for their businesses to grow. They met with Brent, set goals, and organized a plan to each achieve the Team Director title in conjunction with Brent's advancement. It was teamwork at its finest. As they worked to see their plans come to fruition, William and Richard committed to create positive habits that could be duplicated. "They would always go out and do the simple things that I told them to do," said Burnett. "Then we would talk again and they would bring up questions, and we would build from there." Today, Brent Burnett leads his team as a Pearl Executive, and with new milestones in sight. He has two very dedicated and passionate Team Directors by his side, looking to achieve further success in their own businesses. The future is looking bright, but all three are aware that building on success takes dedication and patience. "Obviously, these sort of accolades don't happen overnight," said Burnett. "It's something that you have to be willing to build and work toward." POSITIVITY FOR A GROWING TEAM Brent has a goal to maintain a positive attitude as he builds. He believes this is how a successful team will be built. He hopes to create a climate in which people will want to work hard. "We want to help people find the right culture where they can be successful," said Brent. "We've been really impressed by our leaders around the world and we hope to create an environment that will encourage people to discover their true potential." As Brent continues to build a positive team in 2018, we congratulate him, along with William Ackley and Richard Carl, for their accomplishments so far. As they continue to generate momentum, we look forward to seeing how they will grow this year and beyond!

Ashleigh M. Maxcey, Ph.D.
http://pageoverview.com/website-report/ashleighmaxcey.com
I am a member of the Department of Psychology at The Ohio State University with a summer teaching appointment at Vanderbilt University since 2012. I received my B.A. from Purdue University in 2004 and my Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 2009. While at Iowa I primarily worked with Andrew Hollingworth, while also collaborating with Shaun Vecera and Steve Luck. From 2008-2010 I taught at the Ohio State University, Marion after which I spent five years at Manchester University where I was granted tenure and promotion in May 2015. I then spent a year at Tennessee State University as an Associate Professor before joining the faculty at The Ohio State University.  In 2014 Geoff Woodman and I established a paradigm measuring recognition-induced forgetting. Recognition-induced forgetting occurs when practice recognizing an object, from a group of objects learned at the same time, leads to worse memory for objects from that group that were not practiced. This forgetting effect is commonly accompanied by improved memory for practiced objects. Work in my lab has shown that recognition-induced forgetting is not an artifact of category-based set size. Our developmental work has shown that this forgetting effect comes online by 6 years of age without a memory benefit for practiced objects until 9 years of age. Further, the forgetting appears to remain robust with healthy aging in samples of older adults, without the benefit for practiced objects shown in young adults but accompanied by a decrease in intrusion errors.  We are currently applying behavioral, transcranial direct-current stimulation, and electrophysiological techniques to the recognition-induced forgetting paradigm to understand how this forgetting phenomenon operates on a variety of stimuli and applied settings. Advantages of this paradigm include that it is possible to test memory of young children using visual objects before they can read, it allows for testing of multiple types of stimuli, and it can be used with animal models. Inspired by the excellent mentorship I have received from many wonderfully supportive and astoundingly intelligent professors, advisors and collaborators, I welcome new students into my lab regularly.

Paul Sarkisian (born 1928, Chicago, Illinois) is an American artist who made significant contributions during the emergence of contemporary art in Los Angeles, and then later gained widespread recognition as a leading photorealist painter. In the early 1950’s Sarkisian began working with legendary independent curator Walter Hopps, exhibiting at The Syndell Studio in Los Angeles. Hopps later included Sarkisian, along with artists Richard Diebenkorn, Craig Kauffman and others, in the seminal Los Angeles art exhibition; Action1, otherwise known as The Merry-Go-Round-Show. The exhibition was organized in 1955 near the Santa Monica Pier as a radical proclamation of contemporary sensibilities, and is widely regarded today as being a defining moment in the history of contemporary art on the West Coast. Afterward, Sarkisian’s involvement with Walter Hopps continued with exhibitions at the Ferus Gallery. As a member of the Ferus, Sarkisian exhibited with gallery co-founder Ed Kienholz and artists Billy Al Bengston, George Herms, Wallace Berman, John Altoon and others, in shows like the Gallery Artists Group Show in1957. In 1962, Sarkisian joined forces with Richard Pettibone, George Herms and others to form the Aura Gallery in Pasadena, a cooperative space run by the artists themselves.
