GUsto (Garcia Usine studio) est un atelier de création visuelle fondé en 2005 par Fanny Garcia & Jack Usine, graphistes plasticiens diplômés de l’école des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux. La production tout-terrain du duo alterne entre éditions, expositions, installations dans l’espace public, et se singularise par un travail de recherche au long cours autour du vernaculaire, des signes urbains déconsidérés, des incongruités locales. En plus de son engagement dans les projets collectifs Sainte-Machine et le Vilain, le studio est investi dans la diffusion de ses propres caractères typographiques via la fonderie numérique SMeltery.

Vernacular Typography is a digital archive and community-based initiative dedicated to the documetation and preservation of vanishing examples of lettering in the everyday environment. It seeks to explore, protect, and promote the typographic heritage of local communities around the world that retain their rich traditions of vernacular signage.
