You've found the internet home of Heather M. Whitney. Here, you'll find my CV, a contact form, and a bit about the work I do.  I don't consider myself an expert in all things, but maybe after almost ten years as a professor at a small liberal arts institution, I might have a bit to offer someone. So I'll blog a bit here too. I'm motivated to do so because when I started out, there was very little information available on best practices for women teaching in science departments at liberal arts institutions. There is so much great stuff there for advising women going to R1 institutions, but some of the advice falls flat for others (and can even result in a rescinded job offer). So, I'll use this blog to offer things I've learned on the tenure track and most importantly, invite others to weigh in.
