Our calligraphy notebooks are collections of the best quotes of our Carmelite saints: St. Teresa, St. John of the Cross, St. Therese, St. Teresa Benedicta (Edith Stein) and Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity. The wisdom of these saints is offered in beautiful calligraphy, the original script of one of our sisters. It is presented in spiral notebooks that can sit with their open easel arrangements on your desk, while you can flip over a new quote for each day and enjoy the inspiration of the holiness of our saints. Our Spiritual Gift cards are large, beautiful and personally adapted gifts of prayer for the special occasions of life. They combine photos taken by the nuns with scriptural quotes, words of the saints and poetry written by our sisters to inspire and comfort the receiver. Most importantly, they convey the prayer of our community for those to whom they are addressed, as a thoughtful gift from the person sending them. Icons are not the same as religious pictures as we know them in the Western Church. Religious pictures appeal to our imagination and our feelings, and often tell a story. Icons are more for the liturgy and for contemplation. They appeal to our faith and our prayer. They are windows into heaven, showing their subjects as they are in glory, radiant and peaceful. Reverence shown to an icon is transferred directly to the one it represents.
