Institute of Engineering & Technology was established by the Government of U.P in 1984, for imparting engineering education and for promoting technological research to generate suitable technical manpower. The institute is fully financed by U.P Government and is being administered by the IET Society (registered under the Societies Act 1860) through its Board of Governors.The IET Lucknow, started in November 1984, constituted the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Lucknow University. Initially, it offered B.Tech degree in three branches, namely Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics. Within a year, two more branches i.e. Civil and Mechanical were introduced.

Avadh Girls' Degree College is an institution for higher education of women, run by the Avadh Educational Society. Founded in 1958 as Loreto Degree College, it was taken over by the Avadh Educational Society in 1976 from Loreto Convent. The Degree College was taken over in totality with Begum Hamida Habibullah as President and (Late) Mrs. Kamla Bhargava as Manager. Mrs. BC Sharma became its first Principal. Under her principalship the nascent Institution began its march with eleven faculty members, one librarian, one office staff and four fourth class employees. With the concerted efforts of the excellent and dedicated staff, the College steered through the changeover smoothly.
