After Admiral Horation Nelson's death at the battle of Trafalgar, in 1805, his body was stored in a barrel of brandy to be preserved during the long journey back. Legend has it the crew drilled a hole in the barrel after running out of their tot rations, and would draw our brandy using macaroni straws.
