Our new outdoor kitchen makes cooking outdoors a real pleasure and is a small sociable hub for our visitors to meet.  If the weather is not great, we also have a rainy day recreation room, a place for the whole family to hang out, play ping pong or play a board game with a book of ideas and materials for adventure and creative play.    Lower Porthamel has the fishing rights on the Llynfi. Fly fishing and course fishing day passes are available at the farmhouse.   The showers are always hot and the wash area is a short distance from the camping orchard.  For groups or small parties we now have our new Stable house camping room making camping all the more simple and lightweight as we provide the beds and small kitchen area above the stable block. Perfect for groups – just bring your own sleeping bag and pillow case!   Our nature trail is a beautiful round 2.5km walk from the campsite through the farm fields and along the old Mid Wales Railway line. The track runs largely through woodland and along the River Llynfi which is an area of special scientific interest.  The valley is rich in fauna and wildlife, otters, Kingfishers and Badgers can all be seen and there are plenty of picnic spots along the way.   The Brecon Beacons National Park offers breathtaking views and great walking country.  Canoeing, Kayaking, Pony trekking, mountain bike riding and gliding can all be enjoyed nearby.  Or if you are wanting a more gentle activity, spend the day in Hay on Wye with it’s famous bookshops, antique shops, galleries pubs and restaurants.   Summer campers can enjoy fresh produce from the farm and organic meat BBQ packs from our Small Farms Butcher shop can be purchased at the farm.   We invite you to come and enjoy yourselves at Lower Porthamel Farm Camping and have a no car policy on the camping fields and orchard.  Wheelbarrows are available for you to bring your gear to the sites.

While no Georgia Court has held that a violation of HIPAA can be used as evidence to support a state law claim for violation of privacy, many courts in other states have held it can. See Acosta v. Byrum, 180, NC App. 562 (2006). Furthermore, Georgia Courts have repeatedly held that federal regulations can be used as evidence to support a state law negligence claim. See Cardin v. Telfair Acres of Lowndes County, Inc., 185 Ga. App. 449 (1990). Thus, it is likely that when this issue is decided, a Georgia Court will allow the use of HIPAA regulations as evidence supporting a claim for invasion of privacy. The case of Byrne v. Avery Center for Obstetrics & Gynecology, P.C., 314 Conn. 433 (2014) is instructive for the dangers of HIPPA violations supporting state law invasion of privacy claims. In Byrne, the patient instructed the medical provider not to release her records to a specified third-party. The third-party served a subpoena on the medical provider. The medical provider produced the records without informing the patient or making any objection. The Court held that the plaintiff could use the HIPAA regulations concerning the release of records pursuant to subpoena to support a state law invasion of privacy claim. Thus, while plaintiff cannot bring an action for breach of HIPAA, the plaintiff can accomplish the same goal by bringing a state law claim for invasion of privacy based on a violation of HIPAA. Therefore, medical providers should be aware that breaches of HIPAA can ultimately, although indirectly, expose them to liability. By: Richard Tisinger, Jr.
