Gryphon Management is pleased to announce that new Automatic Ticket Gates (ATG) at Blackburn Station entered into service earlier this morning. Gryphon Management were appointed as Principal Designer and Principal Contractor by Arriva Rail North (Northern Railways) with Blackburn being the 15th station to have ATGs installed under this programme of work. Aside from our own professional management and design services, the Gryphon team worked very closely with both Cubic and D-SEC who undertook the supply, installation and enabling works respectively. It was a real team effort of collaboration and support by all. The programme to introduce new ATGs at Blackburn station was part of a wider range of retailing enhancements by Northern, namely the installation of a 'Retailing Smart Wall' within the station entrance. This concept incorporates 5 interactive Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) along with a large format customer information display. Commenting on the success of the Blackburn ATG go-live, Gryphon Managing Director, Mark Dougill commented, "Blackburn is probably the largest deployment of Automatic Tickets Gates we have so far undertaken on behalf of Northern, so I am delighted that we have repeated the success of the preceding stations. It is testament to the teamwork and collaborative approach that exists between all of Northern's partners".

Bombardier's earnings before interest and tax for the whole of last year rose from $427m (£304m) to $672m, driven by rising sales and profits in its rail division.Loses at its commercial aircraft division fell from $417m to $377m and profits at its business aircraft division rose 13%. . It said that Bombardier's C- Series jets ordered by Delta did not compete with any of Boeing's planes and the sale did not come at Delta's expense."Boeing lost no sales or revenues," the ITC said in its 194-page ruling.Bombardier is also in the middle of a five-year turnaround plan. Chief executive Alain Bellemare said: "2018 will be a pivotal year for Bombardier. We are moving out of our investment cycle and into a strong growth cycle.""Because of this solid performance, we begin 2018 with great momentum. Our operational transformation is in full motion."
