LIC - Lebanese Information Center
http://pageoverview.com/website-report/licus.org
The Lebanese Information Center (LIC) is an independent, non-profit Research Institute committed to providing historical resources as well as updated and accurate information for individuals and institutions seeking to learn about Lebanon and its people. The establishment of LIC was inspired by the need to inform various institutions about the plight of Lebanese people and to effectively rally support for a free, democratic and sovereign Lebanon. It seeks to promote peace and aims at eliminating injustice and Human Rights abuses committed against all Lebanese equally. To realize its mission, the LIC, headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, established chapters nationwide with several hundred members, mostly volunteers and a large support base. The LIC carries its mission through departments, which function within their capacities. Its primary programs are: Research and Media Center which gathers data and publishes special reports on issues of concern to Lebanon. Human Rights Monitor which functions as a Human Rights Watch group recording accounts of Human Rights abuses in Lebanon and exerting pressure on the Lebanese Government to stop or prevent all forms of abuses committed against its people. The LIC also monitors the judicial practices to ensure proper legal procedures. A Lobby group which aims at rallying the Lebanese community abroad to effectively lobby for a free, democratic and sovereign Lebanon. The LIC seeks to be a bridge between the American establishments and Lebanon to provide a new perspective on the continuous struggle that is depriving Lebanon of its freedom and independence. A Social Services institute working to provide assistance to Lebanese who are in need of economic assistance. The LIC also functions as a network connecting the Lebanese in the Diaspora.
